Our ongoing programs are many, limited only by the boundaries of imagination! Here is a small sample, with other ideas welcome!
Prayer and Spiritual Development
Bimonthly prayer meetings with a rosary, Mass, dinner and speaker. These meeting are devoted to promoting our community, learning of our speakers' surprisingly varied vocation origins, and hearing about the progress and needs of their ministries. Meetings are open to members and helpers.
Prayer programs within homes, parishes and schools, ranging from simple--such as an offertory petition for vocations--to the richest, which include the Traveling Crucifix and Traveling Chalice programs for schools and families respectively. These provide month-long focused prayer and discussion pertaining to vocation callings within families and classrooms.
Vocations Development
These activities include the Prayer programs within families, schools, and parishes noted above, but go on to include the Newman Program for colleges, Altar Server Awards, and other ways of helping Catholic parishes and families in identifying vocations. Many of these are summarized in the Serra Spark program, and new ideas are always forming!
Throughout each year, we send support cards to Sacred Heart Seminarians and conduct prayers for local priests.
We annually send gifts of recognition to our priests on September's Priest Sunday, and cookies to Seminarians on Valentine's Day.
We support seminarian conducted events, sponsoring Serran tables at Seminary events, most importantly an annual dinner and auction in support of Life.
We conduct two annual fundraisers: the Desert Meal each spring with seminarian speakers, that supports the seminarians' required formation trip to the Holy Land; and an annual Serra Golf Outing and Dinner that supports seminary needs.
